Zanzibar Islands are located along the Ocean which are suitable areas for fishing.
These activities have been heavily practiced by local fishermen and yield fishes of different species.
The villagers especially those living along coastal shores have been obtaining their daily needs through fishing sardines by using local fishing nets. Their harvest actions are minimal as it depends on the seasons of fishing that is largely determined by the Moonson winds.
Despite minimal harvesting is done, there are some other distractions of the environment taking place during the drying process. For instance, fishermen are using firewood, charcoal and the like to dries their fishes. These sources of heat mostly going against the rules and regulations of conserving the nature and environment in general.
As a Renewable Energy practitioner, our Organization is intending to conserving the environment and replace these losses of biodiversity by encouraging the usage of Solar Dryers for drying fishes. This approach will enhance the villagers of these zones and provide a healthy way of drying fishes in a short time.
As a fact that Zanzibar hot climate is enough, where drying of fishes is typically carried out in the solar taking about 12 t0 14 hours of sunlight.
