Solar PV Plant Installations in the Water Sources to Reduce Operational Power Failures

Zanzibar Islands are blessed by having numerous sources of pure water. These sources are vital for the livelihood of people and their surroundings. The climate condition of Zanzibar is hot all year round, which is suitable enough for the power plants.
Zanzibar receives its electricity from the Mainland through the underwater cable which is not sufficient at all. This power often went off due to decreases water dams that generate HEP in the Mainland and Zanzibar Islands.

This has been a problem for the country development as well as people’s welfare. Despite several strategies made to ensure fully electricity in the Islands, still the problem exists.
This problem has led to a serious problem in terms of water distribution among the people in the Islands especially women and children as a matter of fact, they are the ones who suppose to go long way for fetching water.
In regards to this problem, Installations of Solar PV Plants at water distribution points and sources is more likely to accelerate the dull power supply in both Urban and Rural areas, since it will replace or supplement the cut off of electricity by ensuring the services delivery all the time in the Islands.
